摘要: This paper demonstrates the importance of remaining urban forests, and related policy management issues, by reviewing current situation in Sydney, Australia. Transport corridor vegetation surveys are used to show challenges implications for future. The process medium long-term formulation, with initial strategy development at local level, is outlined. study also addresses increasing need integration other including existing general forest strategies. The benefits using active remote sensing technologies illustrated light detection ranging (LiDAR) data generate a high resolution, 3-dimensional surface model. Among major transport corridors Sydney metropolitan area, segments two long-established main roads were selected detailed studies roadside resource. Data analysis indicated that trees very diverse distributed patchy way. Some areas treeless some have dense stands. results showed variability species composition between areas, canopy cover shading varying widely. We identify number issues lessons from conservation, pollution socio-economic perspectives, which broader applications, relate these findings back policies planning.
