摘要: The role of vision and color in close-proximity foraging behavior was investigated for four species lady beetles: Coccinella septempunctata, Hippodamia convergens, Harmonia axyridis, Coleomegilla maculata. effect light level cues on consumption rates varied among the predator species. these predators pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) measured under dark conditions. C. septempunctata,H. Ha. axyridis consumed significantly more aphids than dark, while rate Col. maculata not affected by level. Foraging ability also red green morphs red, green, white backgrounds. septempunctata morph that contrasted with background color, showed no difference between background. H. regardless remaining two morphs. variation use visual demonstrates how different can exhibit behaviors when searching same prey.
