摘要: A process for converting methanol to ethanol which comprises reacting and carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst produce product comprising at least 25 mole % methyl acetate and, some instances, acetic acid. The acid then is reacted with one alcohol selected from acetate, ethyl butyl acetate. (if produced) produced as result are hydrogenated ethanol. Syngas may be biomass all or portion methanol, hydrogen, requirements process.
