摘要: The cause of the failure C2H2-C2H4 assay for nitrogen-fixing bacteria growing on lower alkanes was studied. Acetylene a strong competitive inhibitor methane oxidation methane-utilizing bacteria, as well by other so that energy and reducing power were no longer available reduction acetylene nitrogenase. Nitrogen-fixing grown may reduce when intermediates alkane-breakdown or substrates oxidizable in presence are supplied. Ethylene co-oxidation is not responsible test, because also inhibits this along with oxidation.
