Song characterization in the spectacled warbler (Sylvia conspicillata): a circum-Mediterranean species with a complex song structure

摘要: The spectacled warbler (Sylvia conspicillata) is a small passerine with patchy distribution throughout the circum-Mediterranean region, including North Atlantic archipelagos of Madeira, Canary Islands and Cape Verde. Here we characterize species song structure on island Fuerteventura, quantifying repertoire size, inter- intra-individual spectrographic variation, to determine whether acoustic variation occurred within an population. Male display was organized in bouts variable number phrases, which turn were made up 4–69 syllables. We classified syllable types derive measure size (number different syllables) per bout, then used rarefaction methods calculate estimated for our population males.
