摘要: Estimating population sizes and genetic diversity are key factors to understand predict dynamics. Marine species have been a difficult challenge in that respect, due the difficulty assessing open nature of such populations. Small, isolated islands with endemic offer an opportunity groundtruth size estimates empirical data investigate consequences small Here we focus on two reef fish, Clipperton damselfish, Stegastes baldwini, angelfish, Holacanthus limbaughi, Atoll, tropical eastern Pacific. Visual surveys, performed over almost decades four expeditions, surveys based genomic RAD sequences, allowed us estimate kinship diversity, as well compare visual effective genetics. We found numbers were remarkably similar. S. baldwini H. limbaughi had approximately 800,000 60,000, respectively. Relatively resulted low presence apparent kinship. This study emphasizes importance models dynamics marine organisms.
