摘要: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore how the psychological constructs volition and motivation influence successful unsuccessful weight maintainers’ experiences during difficult period following an intensive lifestyle intervention. Design/methodology/approach Post intervention semi-structured interviews with 11 four maintainers were conducted. Findings The eight themes that emerged differences between theoretically explained applying self-determination theory (motivation) personal systems interaction (volition). Practical implications The study validates coheres previous findings on importance self-regulation autonomous for loss maintenance. Additionally, study’s expand literature by explaining both empirically quality concerning activity influences level volitional intensity needed when wanting either engage in goal oriented or refrain from opposing activities. Originality/value Developing effective obesity interventions has become essential, as a growing health threat most countries world. However, there gap regards qualitative studies clear theoretical framework informing development.
