摘要: India's current biodiesel policy mandates the use of non-edible oilseed feedstocks grown exclusively on 'wastelands', country's term for degraded and marginal lands. In recent years, Government India has heavily supported Jatropha curcas as a feedstock because its alleged ability to thrive in landscapes. However, wastelands are often rich local biomass resources that support host livelihood industrial activities. This poster will present comparative material flow analysis biofuel economies Virudhunagar District, Tamil Nadu. The South Indian state Nadu been one leading promoters production areas targeted cultivation densely covered with resource, Prosopis juliflora. At present, is used fuelwood by villagers brick, charcoal, cement electricity production. Our evaluate resource flows these two energy assess environmental tradeoffs replacing Jatropha.
