摘要: A variety of structural and stratigraphic factors control geological heterogeneity, inferred to influence both sequestration capacity effectiveness, as well seal capacity. Structural heterogeneity include faults, folds, fracture intensity. Stratigraphic is primarily controlled by the geometry depositional facies sandbody continuity, which controls permeability structure. The structure, in turn, has implications for CO2 injectivity near-term migration pathways, whereas long-term can be from production history. Examples Gulf Coast oil gas reservoirs with differing styles demonstrate impact variability on fluid flow potential. Beach barrier-island deposits West Ranch field southeast Texas are homogeneous continuous. In contrast, Seeligson Stratton fields south Texas, examples major fluvial systems, composed discontinuous, channel-fill sandstones confined narrow, sinuous belts. These heterogeneous contain limited compartments potential storage, although effectiveness may enhanced high number intraformational shale beds. that areas storage optimized assessing sites recovery mature hydrocarbon provinces.
