摘要: An analytical expression for the error in sub-pixel displacement is derived. The relates to second- and fourth-order moments of intensity probability density function, which can both be expressed terms source density. Scaling relations as a function particle-image diameter are determined by means Cramer–Rao lower bound, constant image evaluated displacement, diameter, density, results validated against from Monte-Carlo simulations. It demonstrated that obtained synthetic PIV images do not represent correct systematically underestimate measurement error.
