摘要: Both morphological and genetic evidence support a hybridization event between Boreal Chickadee ( Poecile hudsonicus ) Black-capped atricapillus in Atlantic Canada. Plumage of the hybrid was intermediate to both parental species, with buffy sides dark brown cap on head. Mitochondrial DNA control region showed female lineage be from Chickadee, while Z-linked markers mixed × heritage, likely representing an F1 hybrid. This is first documented case these species eastern North America, it adds increasing supporting intrageneric avian hybridization.
