摘要: For the unprotected left-turn traffic at two-way stop controlled intersections or during permitted green phase signalized intersections, left-turning drivers from major road need to accept proper gaps cross opposing through into minor road. Provision of a relatively wide median on facilitates adding left turn lanes. However, if is too wide, simultaneously-left-turning vehicles in opposite lanes often block each other's view so as influence operation. Based field observations this study, it was found that insufficient sight distance may significantly result increment critical gap and follow-up time drivers. This paper presents theoretical models quantify negative effect restricted problem capacity. The Arena simulation model used verify results.
