摘要: Relatively few investigations explicitly test for concordant versus conflicting selection pressures from intrasexual intersexual selection. Here, we examine the effects of male body mass and behavioral type (BT) on reproductive success in spider Anelosimus studiosus, with emphasis placed potential interaction between influences. Female A. studiosus exhibit either an aggressive-active or docile-passive BT, both which co-occur multifemale colonies. Males, contrast, a more continuous distribution tendencies. We investigated traits favored by females five trial types: one docile female, aggressive four females, two females. Male was estimated number eggs produced following staged mating trials. In previous work, it established that large males are male–male contests, effect. However, were not universally here. failed to detect effect aggressiveness trials all females; however, situations involving experienced diminished relative small males. Taken together, our data suggest consequences differ based (1) aspect sexual being considered (intrasexual intersexual) (2) BT their prospective mates: enjoy advantages when courting experience reduced risk cannibalism increased
