摘要: Background People with frailty and/or sarcopenia have an increased risk of negative health outcomes. However, their diagnosis is often difficult. Considering the potential value myostatin and follistatin as biomarkers these conditions, we aimed to compare association between both myokines in post-hospitalised older people. In addition, capability for identifying was compared physical tests. Materials methods Participants this cross-sectional study consisted 84 patients immediately after discharge. met following inclusion criteria: aged ≥ 70 years, score ≥20 on Mini-Mental State Examination, able stand up walk independently at least 4 m. Serum concentrations were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Body measures results from tests (hand grip, chair stand, 8-foot timed Up Go (8TUG) gait speed (GS)) also recorded. Frailty evaluated Fried index, criteria European Working Group Sarcopenia Older People. Results Myostatin concentration lower higher people or sarcopenia. Receiver operating characteristic curves indicated that GS 8TUG had greatest frailty. only variable capable Conclusion may be a useful biomarker adults. it has than Further studies using larger samples together other are warranted.
