摘要: Although the importance to global oceanography of ice shelf-ocean interactions has been recognized for many years, only more recently its role in control flow from interior, grounded sheet into ocean clearly understood. The consequences sea level increasing loss Antarctic and Greenland sheets prompted rapidly growing research efforts this area. Here we describe different techniques commonly employed field study interactions. We focus on used by British Survey, primarily Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf, some recent results instruments deployed both beneath shelf upper surface, which demonstrate variability at a broad range time scales.
