Temperament in a Fish: A Longitudinal Study of the Development of Individual Differences in Aggression and Social Rank in the Midas Cichlid

摘要: A longitudinal design was applied in a study of the development individual differences aggression, and their relationship to growth sexual differentiation Midas cichlid, Cichlasoma citrinellum. Weight standard length measurements, as well several measures were obtained at regular intervals. Size ranks within groups stable over period spanning an early juvenile phase through maturity. Two three aggression rank scores also this interval, but they did not relate any direct way social rank. As juveniles, males showed higher levels than females, reverse true adults. This sex-specific developmental change resulted both from increase female maturity decline male Individuals distinct behavioral profiles with respect combined tests.
