摘要: The influence of stress on executive functions has been demonstrated in numerous studies and is potentially mediated by the stress-induced cortisol release. Yet, impact cognitive flexibility task switching particular remains equivocal. In this study, we investigated pharmacological glucocorticoid receptor (GR) mineralocorticoid (MR) stimulation, two corticosteroid types known to be responsible for effects brain. We conducted experiments, each with 80 healthy participants (40 women 40 men), tested effect unspecific MR/GR agonist hydrocortisone (Experiment I) more specific MR fludrocortisone II) switch costs rule congruency a bivalent, cued paradigm. results did not confirm our hypotheses; found no significant manipulations capacity, although general were observed. discuss absence MR/GR-mediated propose alternative mechanisms that could explain induced switching.
