Erythrocyte sedimentation rates in the elderly: a community study.

摘要: One hundred and ninety-four elderly subjects living in the community were randomly selected order to define a reference range for erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) this age group. Mean (S.D) values 4.1 (2.9) mm one hour 7.2 (2.6) men women respectively. Values ranged from 0-44 hour. The ESR showed significant independent correlations with fibrinogen, haemoglobin (male female) albumin levels only). A new algorithm determination of upper limit normal is proposed: Females = Age/3 + 10 Male Age/3.
