Physical Activity Advisement Practices in Diabetes Education Centres across Canada

摘要: ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To examine exercise advisement practices in Diabetes Education Centres (DECs) across Canada, and to review the educational materials used promote comparison national guidelines. METHODS Surveys were faxed 310 DECs identified Canadian Association 2000/2001 Professional Membership Directory. RESULTS The response rate was 27%. Fifty-four percent of reported providing standard information based on recommendations. Fewer than 40% provided individualized address diabetes complications or other comorbid diseases, despite fact that majority significant cardiac disease (96.5% DECs), arthritis (90.6%), kidney (78.1%) and/or neuropathy (32.3%) among patients. CONCLUSION are translating research practice when it comes physical activity advisement, but DEC patients may require additional assessment modifications guidelines order enhance participation. Materials designed help safe participation needed for this population.
