A fish-based index for assessing the ecological status of Polish transitional and coastal waters.

摘要: Fish assemblages are considered indicators of aquatic ecosystem quality. Based on how fish communities respond to anthropogenic pressures, we developed a multimetric index for evaluating the health both coastal and transitional waters. data were collected along Polish coast in years 2011, 2013 2014 using different types gear. Redundancy analysis showed that most important environmental factor affecting community was salinity. Responses disturbances 20 candidate metrics tested by generalized linear models, taking into account salinity, sampling protocol proxy human pressures described Baltic Sea Impact Index (BSII). Five selected combined Multimetric Index, which negative significant correlation with BSII. The presented herein appeared be good tool assessing ecological state highly impacted areas complies Water Framework Directive requirements.
