摘要: Dual-photon absorptiometry (DPA) allows separation of body mass into bone mineral, fat, and fat-free soft tissue. This report evaluates the potential DPA to isolate appendages human subjects quantify extremity skeletal muscle (limb tissue). The method was evaluated in 34 healthy adults who underwent study, anthropometry limbs, estimation whole-body by models based on total potassium (TBK) nitrogen (TBN) (FFM). appendicular (22.0 +/- 3.1 kg, mean SD) represented 38.7% FFM, with similar proportions males females. There were strong correlations (all p less than 0.001) between limb estimated anthropometric areas (r = 0.82-0.92), TBK 0.94), total-body TBK-FFM 0.82) TBK-TBN models. Appendicular is thus a potentially practical accurate quantifying vivo.
