摘要: Downsizing the United States Air Force Security Forces: A Phenomenological Investigation by Winell S. de Mesa MS, University of Central Florida, 2005 BA, South 2003 Doctoral Study Submitted in Partial Fulfillment Requirements for Degree Doctor Business Administration Walden June 2015 Abstract The (USAF) has downsized an average 10,000 active duty personnel each year from 1990 to 2010. Despite this downsizing, mission remains same, which increases workload on remaining airmen, lowers morale, decreases specialization, changes mindset/culture, accelerates promotion rates, and shifts dependence technology Forces career field. USAF needs adequately sized proficient members meet its mission. This phenomenological study examined effects downsizing great man theory, social learning theory expertise, Maslow’s hierarchy provided conceptual framework. Semistructured interviews were gathered with a purposeful sample 24 retired members, near Combat Command bases; data then analyzed through Moustaukas modified van Kaam technique. themes cycle downsizing; increased despite decreased number personnel, also known as "more less"; accelerated rate; technology. primary finding suggested need specialization consistency used.
