Population aging and social work practice with older adults: Demographic and policy challenges

摘要: Living into older ages is changing from an exceptional to expected part of the life course experience worldwide. Improvement in health and longevity across lifespan also brings challenges for social work practice. At same time, these changes are population aging trends that not universal or inevitable. In addition, discourse often reduces complex dynamics a problematic rise adults characterized as unproductive dependent. Social workers can challenge ageist construction by using our contextualized knowledge how people age their environments.
