摘要: Aging process is often accompanied with a high incidence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) due to the synergistic effects age-related changes in heart morphology/function and prolonged exposure injurious CVD risk factors. Oxidative stress, considered hallmark aging, also an important feature pathologies that predispose development, like hypertension, diabetes obesity. Approaches directed prevent occurrence during aging have been explored both experimental models controlled clinical trials, order improve health span, reduce hospitalizations increase life quality elderly. In this review we discuss oxidative stress role as main factor relates aging. As well interventions aim by supplementing exogenous antioxidants. particular, strategies improving endogenous antioxidant defenses through activating nuclear related-2 (Nrf2) pathway; one best studied molecules cellular redox homeostasis master regulator phase II detoxification response.
