Relationship of retinopathy and hearing loss in type 2 diabetes mellitus

摘要: This study investigated whether the degree of diabetic retinopathy correlates with sensorineural hearing loss. Seventy-five patients and 45 sex- age-matched healthy controls were evaluated audiologically. Patients classified into groups by severity retinopathy: group 1 (n=28), no retinopathy, 2 (n=4), background retinopathy; 3 (n=23), proliferative or end-stage retinopathy. Diabetics had a statistically significant difference at all frequencies loss, as compared controls.
