摘要: Abstract Accounts of the 1988 monsoon flooding Bangladesh blame recent population growth Himalayan farmers for deforestation which causes upland erosion and lowland flooding. The research to specify reverse these processes, however, has shown that: deep historical roots been profoundly influenced by state policies; having many children is one few ways households can confront their poverty; vegetation changes affect rates erosion, mass wasting, sedimentation, much less than previously thought. inclusion political-economic as well environmental factors not only provides a more accurate explanation, but also allows effective policy initiatives.
