摘要: Sulphate-containing wastewaters from the paper and board industry, molasses-based fermentation industries edible oil refineries present difficulties during anaerobic treatment, leading to problems of toxicity, reduction in methane yield, odour corrosion. The microbiology biochemistry dissimilatory sulphate are reviewed order illustrate potential competition between reducers other anaerobes involved sequential mineralisation process. theoretical considerations which influence outcome fermentative, syntrophic, homoacetogenic methanogenic bacteria discussed. actual outcome, under varying influent organic composition strength sulfate concentrations prevail digestion industrial wastewaters, may be quite different that predicted by thermodynamic or kinetic considerations. factors governing competitive interactions SRB methanogenesis is discussed context literature data on wastewater treatment with particular reference laboratory full-scale citric acid production wastewater.
