摘要: Two forms of time-dependent brittle cracking along grain boundaries are compared here. Both these involve diffusion-controlled decohesion, but in one case, the diffusing species is hydrogen and other it a surface-adsorbed embrittling element. The application tensile stress each case serves both to concentrate at tip sharp crack provide force necessary overcome bonding boundaries. In cases rate depends on structure individual boundaries, appears be that previously contaminated with some level an impurity. may completely uncontaminated prior stress; here, process inherently dynamic, not only because also (dynamos Greek).
