摘要: Abstract Two hundred and one women were interviewed four weeks before elective interval sterilization, 190 (94.5%) of them assessed again 6 months after the operation. Systematic assessments made mental state, social adjustment, sexual functioning, menstrual status, physical health post-operative satisfaction. Before level psychiatric morbidity as measured by Present State Examination was 10.4%, no greater than would be expected from a general population sample. After surgery, significantly reduced to 4.7%. Social adjustment also improved. Post-operative psychosexual disturbance uncommon (2.7%), majority patients reporting increased frequency enjoyment intercourse. Reports menstruation sterilization appeared related withdrawal oral contraception. Other complaints not more frequent surgery before, associated with emotional both sterilization. Significant regret rare (2.6%), though 15 (7.8%) reported some dissatisfaction. One ninety-three (96%) original sample 18 results are currently being analysed.
