摘要: This paper consists of two studies: the results a search for heavy Majorana neutrinos (N) using an event signature defined by like-sign charged muons and jets, from studies prototype quartz plate calorimeter. The data in correspond to integrated luminosity 5.0 fb$^{−1}$ pp collisions at centre-of-mass energy 7 TeV collected with CMS detector Large Hadron Collider. No excess events are observed beyond expected standard model background therefore upper limits set on square mixing element, $|V_{\mu N} |$as function neutrino mass. These first direct Majorana-neutrino m$_N$ > 90 GeV . second part this thesis is performance tests 20-layer calorimeter prototype. was tested CERN H2 area hadronic electromagnetic configurations, various en ergies pion electron beams. beam test simulation reported.
