摘要: ABSTRACTIntroduction: In 1988, an estimated 350,000 children were paralyzed by polio and 125 countries reported cases, the World Health Assembly passed a resolution to achieve eradication 2000, Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) was established as partnership focused on eradication. Today, following efforts, cases have decreased >99% of all three types wild polioviruses is approaching. However, since resources substantially support disease surveillance other health programs, losing assets could reverse progress toward achieving Vaccine Action Plan goals.Areas covered: As end approaches GPEI funds capacity decrease, we document knowledge, experience, lessons learned from 30 years eradication.Expert commentary: Transitioning measles rubella (MR) elimination efforts would accelerate global vaccination coverage equity.
