摘要: Apurinic/apyrimidinic and oxidized abasic sites are chemically reactive DNA lesions that produced by a variety of damaging agents. The effects these molecules lack Watson–Crick base on polymerase enzymes well documented. More recently, multiple consequences the electrophilic nature have been revealed. Members this family shown to inactivate repair undergo spontaneous transformation into more deleterious forms damage. Abasic site reactivity provides insight chemical basis for cytotoxicity agents produce them valuable examples how looking beneath surface seemingly simple can reveal biologically relevant complexity.
