摘要: Abstract The sunscreen agent 2-phenylbenzimidazole-5-sulfonic acid (PBSA) has been reported to exhibit photosensitizing activity. In the present study, photophysical and properties of PBSA were investigated by means quantum chemical calculations with aim gain deeper insights into underlying mechanisms. results indicate that singlet oxygen may be generated spontaneously through direct energy transfer from triplet excited state 3 O 2 , superoxide anion radical is formed electron between . This offers some mechanisms PBSA.
