Estimating substitution in coniferous sawnwood imports into Germany

摘要: Abstract Germany is one of the largest importers coniferous sawnwood in Europe. Traditionally Sweden, Finland and Russia have dominated German import market. However, market structure has changed recently as Swedish Finnish producers lost a part their share while Russian strengthened position. In order to explain ongoing change shares, integration substitution demand for imports from different countries were investigated using econometrics. The quarterly data set covered years 1991–2003. results indicate that well integrated. Furthermore, prices followed price sawnwood. according estimated cross-price elasticities, it apparent not substituted either or into Germany.
