摘要: In 1981, we began to monitor the stream flow and chemistry of 13 first-order basins at Turkey Lakes Watershed, with objective measuring response an undisturbed forested ecosystem acid deposition. There was no trend in total annual precipitation received by watershed, but average water yield (percentage precipitation) declined over observation period. The proportion runoff occurring different seasons also changed, decreasing winter increasing spring. most streams concentration SO4 2− has decreased coincident decline inputs. Recovery from deposition (as evidenced increased pH, alkalinity, base cation fluxes) not been uniform. Basins that do show signs recovery are characterized deeper flowpaths greater potential neutralizing capacity, which minimizes impacts dominated shallow lower levels capacity showing some recovery, their is complete it possible depletion may prevent or retard it.
