摘要: Citizen science is a growing method of scientific discovery and community engagement. To date, there paucity data using citizen scientists to monitor level physical activity, such as bicycling or walking; these are critical inform intervention. Volunteers were recruited from the local make observations at five greenways. The volunteers picked their location, time collect duration collection. Volunteer included recording estimated age, race ethnicity activity each individual they encountered walking, running on greenway. A total 102 participate in study, which 60% completed one more observations. Average observational lasted 81 minutes resulted demographics mean 48 people per session. majority adult bicyclists observed biking moderate pace (86%) white (72%) males (62%). Similar results for those walking. We demonstrate feasibility address current scarcity describing community-level behavior patterns. Future work should focus refining approach collection community-specific interventions order increase greenway use.
