摘要: Infants fail to represent quantities of non-cohesive substances in paradigms where they succeed with solid objects. Some investigators have interpreted these results as evidence that infants do not yet representations for substances. More recent research, however, shows 5-month-old expect objects and behave interact different ways. In the present experiments, we test whether expectations when outcomes are simply opposite those Experiment 1, find a cup sand pours behind screen, it will accumulate just one pile rather than two. Similarly, two cups pour separate streams, distinct piles one. look significantly longer at an inconsistent number piles, providing how accumulates. To or guided about accumulation, 2 placed cues conflict. This resulted chance performance, suggesting that, build outcomes, need both (cup pour) converge. These findings offer insight into nature infants' like sand.
