摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on some advances in the biotechnological applications of thraustochytrids with an emphasis production various high-value products. Moreover, use as feed additives aquaculture and poultry industry well safety issues that concern their are also addressed chapter. Microalgae represent a largely under-exploited group natural resources tremendous potential to produce Thraustochytrids not only play important role ecosystem nutrient recyclers, but serve supreme source single cell oils great commercial prospects. Through years dedicated scientific efforts, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) using single-cell factories has now become reality, thraustochytrid-derived products have entered marketplace (polyunsaturated fatty acids)PUFA-fortified food for fishery healthcare sectors. The elucidation DHA biosynthetic pathways molecular techniques represents exciting potentially rewarding subject future research.
