摘要: I do not believe that the concept of development can usefully be characterized on a continuum strength in exactly manner proposed by Dixon, Lerner, and Hultsch. To explain, let me begin drawing attention to definition ‘concept’ Antony Flew’s A Dictionary Philosophy: That which person has when he understands or is able use some portion his language. Criteria for possessing may weak, requiring only an ability pick out distinguish expression applies. For example, possess sheep could require no more than say ‘sheep’ presence sheep. Stronger criteria might involve grasp logical grammatical behaviour (‘sheep’ common noun, proper name), factual knowledge (sheep are source meat), define give essence (Flew, 1984, p. 69)
