摘要: New diagnostic modalities for malaria must have high sensitivity and be affordable to the developing world. We report on a method rapidly detect quantify different stages of parasites, including ring gametocyte forms, using attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FT-IR) partial least-squares regression (PLS). The absolute detection limit was found 0.00001% parasitemia (<1 parasite/μL blood; p < 0.008) cultured early stage parasites in suspension normal erythrocytes. Future development universal robust calibration models can significantly improve diagnoses, leading earlier treatment this devastating disease.
