摘要: Top and bottom samples of overbank sediments were collected at 43 sites within a 12 000 km2 area around the nickel smelter in Nikel ore roasting plant Zapoljarnij, northwestern Russia. In addition, three detailed profiles sampled 10-cm sections from catchments representing different levels pollution. All analysed for more than 30 elements by ICP-AES following aqua regia extraction. Results obtained show that represent natural (geogenic) background rather well. Although major pollutants (Co, Cu, Ni S) are strongly enriched some places close to industry, sediment is not especially well suited mapping extent airborne contamination area. Co, S mobile profile most polluted catchment.
