摘要: To begin to understand fracture of materials, one must first know the stress and deformation fields near tips cracks. Thus topic in mechanics is linear elastic analysis crack tip fields. The solutions derived here will be seen violate assumptions upon which elasticity theory grounded. Nonetheless by invoking common sense principles, (LEFM) shown provide groundwork for many practical applications fracture.
