摘要: This review is centered on the antioxidant enzyme catalase and will present different aspects of this particular protein. Among them: historical discovery, biological functions, types catalases recent data with regard to molecular mechanisms regulating its expression. The main goal understand consequences chronic exposure cells hydrogen peroxide leading cellular adaptation. Such issues are utmost importance potential therapeutic extrapolation for various pathologies. Catalase a key in metabolism H2O2 reactive nitrogen species, expression localization markedly altered tumors. catalase, oldest known first discovered enzyme, not completely elucidated. As cancer characterized by an increased production oxygen species (ROS) rather enzymes, these characteristics represent advantage terms cell proliferation. Meanwhile, they render particularly sensitive oxidant insult. In context, targeting redox status modulating emerging as novel approach potentiate chemotherapy.
