摘要: Background and objectives: Salvia suffruticosa is a perennial plant from Lamiaceae family. Many species have been employed as medicinal plants; despite the potentials of S. suffruticosa, there limited studies regarding its phytochemical profile or biological properties. The aim present study was to investigate chemical constituents essential oil extract evaluate activities. Methods: Essential aerial parts extracted by hydrodistillation analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy. Isolation compounds methanol petroleum ether fractions achieved column chromatography with different stationary phases. structures isolated were elucidated NMR techniques. Cytotoxicity evaluated MTT assay acridine orange/ethidium bromide staining method. Antioxidant activity assessed DPPH Results: Hydrocarbon sesquiterpenes identified predominant components oil, β-caryophyllene (27.35%), bicyclogermacrene (22.15%), germacrene-D (9.49%) β-farnesene (9.08%) major constituents. Phytochemical analysis resulted in isolation lupeol (1), β-sitosterol (2), stigmasterol (3), caffeic acid (4) 1-feruloyl-β-D-glucopyranose (5). Among tested samples, demonstrated most potent inhibitory toward breast cancer cell lines including MCF-7, T-47D MDA-MB-231 IC50 values equal 33.38±2.6, 36.70±3.1 23.66±1.4 μg/mL, respectively; value 12.1±1.2 μg/mL showed radical scavenging activity. Conclusion: results this suggested promising source bioactive useful prevention treatment cancer.
