摘要: Objective: Previous studies have demonstrated a higher incidence of ulcerative colitis in non-smokers. We investigated the beneficial effects nicotine treatment on colitis-induced anxiety and oxidative colonic damage rats. Materials Methods: Wistar Albino (250-300 g) rats (n=40) were randomly divided into 5 groups as saline-treated group, pre-treated post-treated continuously nicotine-treated group control group. Groups received intraperitoneal injections saline or (0.1 mg/kg/day) for 15 days prior to 3 following induction. Malondialdehyde (MDA) glutathione (GSH) levels, myeloperoxidase (MPO), superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase (CAT) activities, histological evaluation DNA fragmentation studied samples. Anxiety levels evaluated with hole-board test. Results using ANOVA Mann-Whitney-U tests. Results: The had increased MPO MDA scores when compared In nicotinetreated reduced, lower histologic scores. Reduced SOD, CAT GSH also groups. Conclusion: This study demonstrates antioxidant acetic acid-induced model including an capacity, reduced migration neutrophils inflamed colon reduction membrane damage.
