摘要: Doubts have been raised on theoretical grounds concerning the effect of BCG in tropical countries where most places a large proportion population naturally acquired tuberculin allergy low strength and unknown (but almost certainly nonspecific) origin. Furthermore vaccinations tropics may be less efficient if vaccine used has deteriorated from exposure to heat or light. The trial reported here is relevant these 2 problems. A series epidemiological studies South India begun 1950 still progress included which 1/2 tuberculin-negative persons randomly selected were vaccinated. In 1st report 1960 preliminary data indicated that vaccination had conferred no protection against tuberculosis; however total number cases tuberculosis involved was extremely small. Since then further follow-up added considerable statistically significant now demonstrated. too small show precise degree protection. As this controlled undertaken an Asiatic present special interest. (authors) (summary FRE)
