摘要: Abstract PURPOSE: Patients with diabetes and acute chest pain may be admitted to hospitals more frequently than patients without because physicians suspect atypical presentations for ischemic heart disease. This study aimed determine whether the presentation of myocardial infarction risk major cardiac complications differs among known coronary artery disease who do or not have diabetes. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Data from an emergency department urban teaching hospital on medical histories, physical examinations, electrocardiograms 2,694 subjects were prospectively recorded. RESULTS: Diabetes was present in 301 (11%) patients. Compared diabetes, likely ≤60 years old (51% versus 20%) a history hypertension (70% 35%) high blood cholesterol (35% 19%). A discharge diagnosis made 25 diabetic (8%) 148 nondiabetic (6%; P = 0.16) complication occurred two (0.7%) 20 (0.8%; 1.0). had complaints similar rates (3% 4%, respectively; 0.6). hospitalized (67% 47%; 0.001) both before after adjusting clinical electrocardiographic data. CONCLUSIONS: For prior disease, associated higher rate complications. However, hospitalization this population, suggesting that lower threshold admission
