摘要: If uniform flow conditions are approached, turbidity currents should be supercritical (Froude number greater than unity) while passing through submarine canyons, and subcritical less in the upper fan channel. The change regime requires that current pass a hydraulic jump vicinity of canyon mouth. During jump, velocity would reduced its thickness markedly increased. aspects such jumps examined. quantitative analysis is based upon solutions momentum flux equation resulting from assumption continuity sediment flux. It found for average canyon-channel system, more double halved during jump. entrainment water interface significant reducing density current. higher initial Froude number, expected reduction. However, reduction due to probably not sufficient convert high-density slide into low-density There must an by at high number. Turbulence generated within stir help insure suspension sediment.
