摘要: The authors report a study conducted in three Italian neurosurgical centres on 158 patients admitted after minor head injury and with CT findings of hitherto asymptomatic significant extradural haematoma. All were examined both prospectively by means computerized record containing 18 clinical radiological parameters, retrospectively logistical regression analysis, order to ascertain which factors influenced most the choice surgical vs. conservative management. size haematoma, rather than its location, degree midline shift influential deciding favour treatment, specificity 0.83 sensitivity 0.92. Conservative management haematomas having maximum thickness less 10 mm 5 appears as safe. Outcome was “good recovery” nonsurgical patients, only one death whole series, unrelated lesion. This focusses attention group who are seldom scan, but can harbour potentially lethal lesions. Extension scan examination all adult skull fracture be recommended identify an phase.
