摘要: Environmental forensics identifies sources as well dates and other characteristics of environmental releases. A number forensic methods are based on isotope analysis. Radioisotopes, both naturally occurring from nuclear explosions, provide a “clock”; for dating sediments or groundwater. Sediment also contaminants in the sediment column. Groundwater provides information about recharge groundwater velocity. radioisotope, radon, has been used to determine saturated zone NAPL content. Stable isotopes means “fingerprinting”; wide variety identify matches. The method solvents, PCBs, BTEX compounds; lead, sulfur, nitrate landfill leachate gases.
